Authenticator app 2FA time syncing

It's important to synchronize the time on your device when using an authenticator app for two-factor authentication (2FA). The 2FA process depends on time-based codes that expire after a certain duration.

If your phone's time is out of sync or if you have changed time zones, the best way to fix it is to change the time settings on your phone from "Manual" to "Automatic". If it is already set to 'Automatic' toggle it off and on to re-sync the app.

On iPhone

  • Go to the Settings app
  • Select General
  • Select Date & Time
  • Enable Set Automatically

On Android

  • Go to the Settings app
  • Select General Management
  • Select Date and Time
  • Enable Automatic date and time

Android instructions may vary slightly depending on the manufacturer of the phone.

Alternatively, you can try the Time Sync feature if you use Google Authenticator for Android.
